Even more confidence in critical moments: Axon and FirstNet strengthen real-time visibility for agencies

For first responders, seconds can mean everything. Having reliable, immediate visibility into what’s happening on the ground isn’t just helpful — it’s essential. Connectivity has always been at the heart of our cameras and solutions. Since adding streaming capabilities to our cameras in 2019, customers have streamed over a million hours, enabling supervisors to instantly support officers in the field without the need to travel.

In further collaboration with FirstNet®, Built with AT&T, we’re reinforcing first responders’ connections. Together, we are giving agencies mission-critical priority – the highest level of priority* on the FirstNet network – for Axon Body 4 livestreams and with a new Axon Fusus integration with FirstNet Fusion (announced today) we’re bringing voice, video, and location data into one connected view. Together, these advancements ensure that even in the most demanding public safety incidents, agencies continue to have uninterrupted visibility, along with added confidence, clarity, and an even more complete picture of the field during moments that matter most.

Even Stronger Connections for Faster, Smarter Response
Axon cameras have long delivered the visibility agencies rely on in critical moments. Public safety leaders tell us that live video is already central to daily operations — shaping tactical response and reinforcing transparency. The ability to have remote supervisors and support services be able to livestream can make a critical difference in the successful resolution of an incident.

With mission-critical priority on FirstNet, agencies gain an added layer of reliability designed for major planned and unplanned public safety events such as natural disasters, parades and spontaneous protests. This ensures supervisors, dispatchers, and command staff maintain real-time visibility while critical information continues to flow, enabling faster decision-making, greater operational effectiveness, and enhanced officer safety.

And because mission-critical priority supports the Axon body-worn cameras agencies already trust, it requires no new hardware — just a simple subscription upgrade that makes today’s devices even more powerful with more reliability built for the future.

At Axon, we’re constantly listening to our customers and looking for ways to raise the bar on reliability," said Ran Mokady, SVP of Product at Axon. "With mission-critical priority, we’re giving agencies confidence that their video won’t just work in everyday scenarios, but also in the moments of highest stress — when networks are strained, communities are watching, and officers need support the most.

Strengthening the tools agencies already trust

At Axon, we’re committed to continuously improving the tools agencies already rely on — from advancing hardware tomaking seamless, reliable connectivity even better. Earlier this year, we launched Axon Assistant, a real-time AI-powered push-to-talk voice assistant that makes officers even more connected — from translation to general knowledge question support, all through Axon Body 4. That innovation momentum continues with mission-critical priority, adding another layer of reliability to livestreams and connectivity.

“FirstNet is dedicated to giving public safety the best connectivity and the best technology,” said Matt WalshAVP – FirstNet and NextGen 9-1-1 Products, AT&T. “We are excited to collaborate with innovative public safety technology companies like Axon to give public safety the tools they need to stay mission ready. Mission critical priority on Axon cameras and FirstNet Fusion’s integration with Axon Fusus will keep our first responders—and our communities—safer.

Extending visibility with Fusion and Axon Fusus

Our work with FirstNet extends beyond live video connectivity. FirstNet recently announced the newly introduced platform FirstNet Fusion, a mission critical communications platform that combines push-to-talk, LMR, video, dispatch, connected devices and messaging features optimized for public safety into one easy to use platform.

Integrated with Axon Fusus, Axon’s real-time operations platform that maps live video, locations, and alerts in a single operational view, Fusion will show Axon Body 4 video and location data. Fusion-equipped devices will also appear in Axon Fusus, giving agencies one connected view – helping to enhance cross-agency coordination and allowing responders to make faster, smarter decisions.

Built for what's next

The collaboration between FirstNet and Axon is more than a connectivity enhancement — it’s a step toward the future of public safety. These advancements create the foundation for emerging capabilities like AI-driven insights that surface threats in real time, augmented reality overlays that guide responders through hazards, to seamless collaboration across agencies.

Together with FirstNet, we are building a future where technology is as resilient as the people who use it. With these tools, agencies can be even more confident they’re not only prepared for today’s challenges, but ready for what comes next. Because when lives are on the line, reliability isn’t optional, it’s mission critical.

Mission-critical priority will be offered as a premium subscription for Axon Body 4 beginning in early 2026. Integration between Fusion and Axon Fusus will be available in the same timeframe.
